Hello Friends! It's that time of year- SNOW time!! That's right, forecasters are expecting some pretty heavy snow in our mountain passes this weekend, so make sure you're prepared!!
Here is the Weather Advisory from the NWS:
...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM FRIDAY TO 6 AM PST SATURDAY FOR THE WEST SLOPES OF THE NORTH AND CENTRAL CASCADES AND PASSES... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM FRIDAY TO 6 AM PST SATURDAY. * SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS...LOCATIONS ABOVE 2000 FEET IN THE NORTH CASCADES AND ABOVE 2500 FEET IN THE CENTRAL CASCADES. THIS INCLUDES ALL OF THE HIGHWAY PASSES...SUCH AS STEVENS PASS... SNOQUALMIE PASS AND WHITE PASS. MOUNT BAKER AND MOUNT RAINIER ARE ALSO INCLUDED. * TIMING...HEAVY SNOW BEGINNING BEFORE DAWN ON FRIDAY AND ENDING EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. HEAVIEST SNOWFALL RATES ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON. * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...12 TO 18 INCHES IN THE PASSES AND NEAR MOUNT BAKER. AROUND TWO FEET AT MOUNT RAINIER. SNOWFALL RATES EXCEEDING 1 INCH PER HOUR ARE LIKELY ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING. * MAIN IMPACT...TRAVEL THROUGH THE CASCADES WILL BE CHALLENGING. * SNOW LEVEL...2000 TO 3000 FEET ON FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT.
