If you're a football fan, it's hard not to notice that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month; the NFL does a great job of honoring the nearly 2.8 million Breast Cancer survivors in the US and of drawing attention to a disease that affects 1 in 8 women.  The NFL's support of Breast Cancer awareness is huge, and on a National level, but there is plenty you can do to support those fighting Breast Cancer right here in Seattle as well.

The Pink Gene Foundation is the creation of Tera and Ashley Martin, sisters who carry the BRCA gene.  Their goal is to help fund genetic testing for the BRCA gene and provide support for those who test positive.  Tera is currently undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer, a rare occurence for someone under 30, and she has shared her journey through the Pink Gene Foundation's Facebook page, and encourages others to share their battle as well.

On October 23rd, the Pink Gene Foundation will hold their 1st Annual Bald & Beautiful Gala in hopes of raising awareness and money for the Foundation.  The event will be at Suite Lounge in Bellevue and should be a great night, so get your tickets now and support a wonderful cause!  Chances are, we will all know someone who is affected by Breast Cancer at some point in our lives; now is the time to make a difference!
