It is shocking to think that the most important eco-system on our planet is currently burning down at an accelerated rate and nothing is being done about it!
It is thought that three football pitches worth of rainforest is being destroyed by fire every single minute! More than 9,500 fires have been started and figures from INPE, Brazil's National Institute for Space Research show that the rainforest lost 519 square miles of trees in July. This is the largest amount of deforestation in a single month ever!
Something needs to be done about this and it seems like raising awareness is the best option at the moment.
