Lyft & Uber to Reimburse Riders after Price Surging During Seattle Shooting

Uber's License To Operate In London Expires

Last night, if you found yourself in downtown Seattle like myself, you probably found yourself stuck there after the tragic shooting where one woman passed away and others were injured, including a 9 year old boy.

King County Metro had rerouted busses down 4th Ave that normally run down 3rd Ave, causing some confusion about how to get out of downtown. Commuters were floored to find that just to take an Uber or Lyft with cost them into the 3 digits. Some riders found that just to get to Wallingford from Downtown would cost them nearly $100. KIRO 7 has reached out to Uber and Lyft after the outrage and have reported that they will be offering reimbursements to people who were forced to pay surged prices. During emergencies, Uber and Lyft tend to cap their prices so surging doesn't happen. However, it went unnoticed for about an hour after the shooting last night.
